During a recent monitoring visit, Jacob's Host employer Edwards Plumbing Murwillumbah, commented

on Jacob's fantastic work ethic and enthusiasm for the job.  Jacob has said "as well as learning my trade I also want to excel".

Host, Graeme says he hopes Jacob stays on for years to come.

 

 

Finalist for NSW Group Training Awards, School Based Apprentice of the Year (Plumbing).

 

From Clunes, 17 year old Alex Hackett from Trinity High School was signed up by Northern Rivers Group Training on the 15/12/2009.

 

Currently hosted with Sidney & Richardson Plumbing in Ballina, we were proud to nominate Alex for this award. NRGT will be flying Alex and his parents to Sydney for the awards in September 2011, we believe Alex has a great future in the Plumbing industry and we wish him all the very best in Sydney.

 

 

 

 

Kyogle's Justin Parker is a shining light amongst Northern Rivers Group Training's (NRGT) impressive list of Apprentices and Trainees.

 

Aged 20, Justin began his Apprenticeship in Casino where he was indentured to Wayne Lollback Building Co. A talented Rugby League player, Justin got a call to play in the Tweed Seagulls Under 20 side, a feeder side for the Gold Coast Titans.  Justin plays Front Row and his goal is to one day play first grade for the NRL club.

 

Supportive of Justin's ambition, new NRGT Manager Toni Bellos quickly sourced a suitable Host Employer closer to the border.  Justin started the third year of his Apprenticeship with Seascape Design and Construction in January 2011.

 

He had the option of switching TAFE to Kingscliffe, but Justin has chosen to continue his studies at Wollongbar TAFE.  Despite the extra travel, he says he enjoys the familiarity of his teachers and fellow Apprentices.  Justin says he loves the building industry and working for this new Host, and is grateful to HVTC for allowing him to concentrate on a career and pursue his sporting ambitions.

By now some of you would have had the pleasure of meeting our two new Field Officers - Bonnie and Lisa.

 

Bonnie comes to us with a wealth of experience in employment services and will be assisting me with our valued Hosts, Trainees and Apprentices in the Northern Rivers area.

Lisa will be based in the Tweed area servicing from Byron Bay to Queensland Border.  Lisa is an existing Host and understands how our service works from the point of view of a business owner.

Lisa has had experience in the banking, sales and hospitality industries.

 

KEIYA IS HAVING A BABY!

 

Whilst Keiya is away on maternity leave Rosemarie will be looking after Keiya's position in the Administration area.  Rosemarie has extensive administration experience within the employment sector and we welcome her onboard.

WE HAVE NOW MOVED!!

We have now moved to our new office at Suite 2/29 Molesworth Street, Lismore NSW 2480 in the 'Westlawn Building' (right next door to Optus).

The BIG news at Northern Rivers Group Training is that Toni Bellos has been promoted to Manager and is responsible for the day to day running of the office.

A Northern Rivers Group Training School Based Trainee was so excited about her first day as a Certificate III Health Services Assistance at St Josephs Nursing Home Lismore she got straight on her mobile phone after work and text her employment placement officer Toni Bellos.

HVTC has now successfully launched an online OHS induction process for all new apprentices & trainees. The video induction has been specifically designed and created to target Generation Y and was funded by an education training grant with WorkCover assistance.

The Trades Apprentice Income Bonus forms part of the Government’s continuing response to maintain the increase in commencements and retention of people in skills shortage traditional trade apprenticeships as the Australian economy continues to recover from the impact of the global recession.

The Mid-Year Economic and Fiscal Outlook (MYEFO) signals increased support for Australian apprentices as the Gillard Government continues to invest in the skills needed for a strengthening economy. From 1 January 2011, trade apprentices working in ‘skill shortage occupations’ will receive additional tax exempt bonuses of up to $1700 as they reach milestones during their training.
